The EL EtherCAT Terminals series is a modular Beckhoff I/O platform for EtherCAT systems that covers signal acquisition, signal output, motion functions, and system-level terminal infrastructure in a compact terminal-block format.
The series includes terminals for analog voltage and current inputs, analog outputs, stepper motor control, encoder interfacing, and power distribution or potential feed functions, with variants defined by channel count, signal type, and application class. The platform uses DIN-rail-mounted terminals with pluggable wiring, EtherCAT communication, CoE-based parameterization, and process-data mapping for integration into Beckhoff control architectures. Depending on the terminal type, the series supports functions such as 12-bit analog measurement, 12-bit analog signal output, stepper motor operation with positioning features, and intrinsically safe signal handling for hazardous-area applications. Overall, the EL series is intended for modular machine and automation systems where the required I/O, motion, and infrastructure functions are built up terminal by terminal within one EtherCAT station.
