Product Description:
The EL9210 is a supply terminal in the EL EtherCAT Terminals series produced by Beckhoff. As a power distribution element, it feeds auxiliary voltage into an EtherCAT I/O segment while reporting the supply condition to the controller. The unit installs beside signal terminals and separates field-power branches, helping prevent an overload on one branch from interrupting communication across the rest of the bus. Its compact design occupies one DIN-rail slot, eliminates the need for separate fuse holders, and reduces the amount of wiring required for distributed I/O nodes.
The terminal has a nominal input of 24 VDC, and its internal fine-wire fuse has a rating of 6.3 A. The fuse opens the circuit when excessive current could otherwise overheat upstream conductors or damage connected equipment. The additional power contact can carry up to 10 A, providing capacity for several downstream loads within the applicable wiring limits. The device contributes 2 bits to the process image, with one bit assigned to the power condition and the other assigned to a fuse fault. These signals provide the controller with the PowerOK and FuseError status for diagnostic monitoring. Six screwless spring terminals provide two positive supply connections, two return connections, and two protective-earth connections, allowing conductors to be looped to adjacent modules without separate distribution blocks.
The housing snaps onto a 35 mm mounting rail and supports any installation position, allowing placement in compact or rotated control enclosures. A permanently connected PE contact links the terminal to protective earth when the module is installed correctly. The housing has an IP20 protection rating, which guards against accidental finger contact with live internal parts when the terminal is mounted inside a control cabinet. Front-panel diagnostics use a green Power LED and red Error LED to display the supply and fuse conditions directly at the I/O station. The visual indicators allow operating conditions to be checked locally while the corresponding process data remains available to the controller. Its spring-contact arrangement supports quick conductor insertion and keeps the wiring pattern organized within the narrow terminal housing.
