Product Description:

This EtherCAT terminal module developed by Beckhoff is identified by the component number EL6751. Beckhoff produces this unit for easy fieldbus integration. It has a PROFIBUS-DP slave bus interface that allows for the direct connection to Profibus masters. It provides for data transfer rates of up to 12 Mbaud and hence promotes instantaneous data transfer. The device has one Profibus channel that further simplifies the network operation.

The terminal connects via a 9-pin D-Sub socket which preserves standard cabling practices. It also includes LEDs for status and diagnostics and to enable instant fault recognition. It draws power directly from the E-bus and thus eliminates the need for separate power wiring. The component operates between 0°C and 55°C and that suits typical factory environments. It measures 12 mm × 100 mm × 68 mm dimensions which fits narrow terminal rows. The drive mounts on Ekxxxx bus couplers or CXxxxx Embedded PCs in order to simplify system assembly. With a mass of approx. 60 g which lightens control-panel load.

This interface module EL6751 supports Profibus protocols DP-V0 and DP-V1 which guarantees broad master compatibility. Having a 500 V galvanic isolation between E-bus and field protects against ground loops. The unit holds CE and UL certifications to confirm compliance with international safety standards. In addition, it consumes 230 mA from the E-bus that minimizes power draw. It also accommodates up to 127 bus devices which scales network expansion. The module is basically ideal for integrating legacy PROFIBUS-based machinery into modern EtherCAT networks. Many industrial facilities still operate equipment with PROFIBUS communication protocols.

Frequently Asked Questions about EL6751:

Q: Is EL6751 compatible with standard bus couplers?

A: The EL6751 mounts on EKxxxx bus couplers which ensures plug-and-play integration. It aligns precisely with coupler slots which streamlines installation.

Q: How stable is EL6751 in fluctuating factory temperatures?

A: This terminal type operates from 0 °C to 55 °C which fits most workshop climates. It withstands thermal shifts without performance loss.

Q: Can EL6751 handle mixed Profibus protocols in one network?

A: The EL6751 supports both DP-V0 and DP-V1 which enables mixed-mode operation. The unit negotiates protocol versions dynamically which simplifies heterogeneous setups.

Q: How does EL6751’s isolation protect connected devices?

A: This offers 500 V galvanic isolation between the E-bus and field which blocks ground-loop currents. The EL6751 safeguards sensitive I/O modules from voltage spikes.

Q: What installation space does EL6751 require?

A: The module measures 12 mm × 100 mm × 68 mm which fits slim terminal rows and further saves panel space for additional modules.

Internal Product Review

  • ‘‘This EtherCAT Terminals variant EL6751 with 12 Mbaud data transfer rate drives swift fieldbus exchanges which cuts cycle times dramatically. The 9-pin D-Sub socket connection locks in reliable cable interfaces which prevents signal dropouts in harsh conditions making it one of the most desired industrial modules.’’
