EL6632-1002 is an EtherCAT terminal designed for industrial automation solutions. The terminal is a product of Beckhoff Automation, a German provider of premier automation solutions. It supports both isochronous and real-time functionality. It also supports a wide range of diagnostic features. The terminal can communicate with maximum 15 Profinet RT or five Profinet IRT devices. Its Profinet interface supports line network topology. Profinet is an industrial Ethernet standard designed for automation and control applications. The inter-device distance on the Profinet links can go up to 100 meters. Multiple protocols, including SNMP and LLDP, are available for network-level diagnostics. The Ethernet interface on the EL6632-1002 is 100 Mbps interface designed for copper Ethernet cables with RJ45 connectors. Hardware diagnostics are available via status LEDs. The Ethernet to E-bus isolation is 500 Volts.
Power supply for the network is available via the E-bus. Depending on the data and cycle time, the Profinet network can handle 5 IRT-capable devices.
