The EL2535-0000 is a two-channel PWM output terminal produced by Beckhoff within the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. Mounted on a DIN rail alongside other EtherCAT slices, it converts network commands into variable pulse-width signals for driving DC actuators such as proportional valves. By integrating directly on the E-bus backplane, the terminal supplies precise duty-cycle control without the need for separate motion amplifiers. This makes it suitable for distributed automation layouts where compact I/O hardware is preferred.

Each channel is referenced to an input supply of 24 V DC, allowing direct connection to the common control voltage used in most panels. A maximum sourcing or sinking capability of 1 A per channel enables the module to energize ohmic or inductive loads above 1 mH without external relays. The internal modulator switches at 30 kHz, a frequency high enough to reduce audible noise and current ripple in electromagnetic coils. Command values are transmitted with a resolution of 10-bit, providing 1,024 duty-cycle steps for smooth output scaling. All electronics reside in an enclosure rated IP20, which offers finger-safe protection against solid objects inside a control cabinet.

The housing dimensions are 12 × 100 × 68 mm, which match the standard width of a single EtherCAT terminal and preserve uniform height across the I/O row. Field wiring uses a PWM push-pull output arrangement, allowing sourcing or sinking operation without rewiring. Two physically isolated driver paths, identified as 2 output stages, allow simultaneous control of paired actuators while sharing the power contacts. All process data, including the 16-bit control and status words, propagate across the EtherCAT backplane through the dedicated E-bus. This layout avoids the need for additional signal cabling between the terminal and the networked control system.
