The EL3152-0000 is a dual-channel analog input terminal manufactured by Beckhoff as part of the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. Designed for modular I/O stations, the device accepts sensor-level current or voltage signals and encodes them into the deterministic EtherCAT process image for use by the control system. By occupying a single 12 mm slot on the rail, it provides a compact way to bring precise analog measurements into PLC tasks such as temperature regulation, pressure tracking, or position verification.

Each of the 2 input channels is sampled in simultaneous mode, so both signals share the same time stamp when the terminal is synchronized to the network cycle through the Distributed Clocks mechanism. A delta-sigma converter provides 16-bit resolution, and an internal filter limits the bandwidth to 5 kHz to reduce aliasing in rapidly changing signals. Up to 40 mA can flow through the front end without overloading the circuitry, while galvanic separation provides a dielectric strength of 30 V between the field side and the logic side. The channels use a single-ended ground reference, the raw values are transferred to the controller as a 2 × 16-bit process image, and the terminal receives its operating power through the E-Bus backplane.

The unit clips onto a 35 mm DIN rail, which supports standard cabinet installation and keeps the module aligned with neighboring terminals. Its power contacts can conduct up to 1 A to downstream terminals without additional wiring, which helps maintain a continuous supply path across the terminal stack. An IP20 housing protects the electronics against finger contact and settled dust in typical control-cabinet environments. Status feedback is provided through a dedicated 2 × 8-bit process segment, giving the controller separate terminal information alongside the analog measurement data.
