Product Description:

EL3314 is an EtherCAT terminal with four analog inputs. It is designed by Beckhoff for thermocouple interfacing. A thermocouple is a temperature sensor that consists of two different metal wires joined at one end. When this junction is heated or cooled, it generates a small voltage that corresponds to the temperature difference between the junction and the other ends of the wires. This voltage can be measured and converted into a temperature reading. Thermocouples are widely used in industrial applications for temperature monitoring and measurement. The EL3314 terminal connects to four thermocouples. Two wires are required for each thermocouple connection. Diagnostics LEDs are provided for indication of errors such as broken wires. Internal temperature measurement is used for cold junction compensation. Power supply for the connected thermocouples is provided via the E-bus.

The input filter limit frequency is 1 kilohertz. Conversion time specifications for the terminal are 2.5 to 20 milliseconds and depend on the filter setting and configuration. The default conversion time is approximately 250 milliseconds. The EL3314 terminal can measure voltages ±30/±60/±75 millivolts. The supported resolution is 16 bits. Multiple types of thermocouples are supported, including types U, T, R, S, N, L, K, J, C, E and B. Default setting of the unit for type K thermocouples. Ingress protection rating of the unit is IP20. The unit has a compact housing made of polycarbonate. Dimensions of the compact unit are 12 x 100 x 68 millimeters. The compact size reduces installation space requirements. Approximate weight of the terminal is 60 grams. Solid or flexible conductors with 28 to 14 AWG wire sizes can be used for wiring the four thermocouple connections.
