The ELX3158 terminal is specialized for current input systems. It processes input signals in the range of 4 to 20 mA by covering standards for analog measurements. The module provides 8 single-ended input channels by allowing for multiple sensor or device connections within a compact form factor. Its every input follows a 2-wire connection method with a stripping length between 8 and 9 mm to ensure secure and stable wiring. Power contacts are realized through 2 blade or spring contacts by offering mechanical connection and power transmission across the terminal chain. It works with a 16-bit resolution including sign by providing precise analog-to-digital conversion of measured current values. Measurement error or uncertainty is specified at less than ±0.3% relative to the full-scale value. The terminal electronics are powered by a 24 V DC supply which is delivered via the integrated power contacts. An external ELX9560 power option can also be utilized when necessary to maintain stable operation across a larger installation.
The ELX3158 EtherCAT terminal holds current consumption through the contacts with a value of 10 mA and E-bus utilizes around 75 mA which allows synchronization tasks within the EtherCAT network.
