Product Description:
The EL6070 EtherCAT Terminal that is designed by Beckhoff is commonly used in Industrial applications. It is produced as a part of the EL EtherCAT Terminals series.
The EL6070 EtherCAT terminal has a mass of 50 g which makes it lightweight and is beneficial for space constrained installations and also reduces mechanical load on DIN rails. It is designed to transmit license information via EtherCAT which enables feature activation based on licensing. The module conforms to EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4 which makes it resistant to interference and safe for deployment in industrial automation environments. The terminal consumes approximately 120 mA from the EtherCAT E-bus for its operation. It does not consume current from the power contacts which implies it is powered solely via the E-bus and does not interact with field input and output power circuits. It is suitable for use in moderately harsh industrial environments which includes cold and moderately warm conditions. It is rated IP20 which makes it protected against solid objects larger than 12.5 mm but it is not protected from water. If condensation is avoided it can tolerate high humidity environments.
The EL6070 EtherCAT terminal complies with a wide range of international safety and marine/offshore certifications such as CE, CCC, UL, ATEX, IECEx, DNV GL and cFMus which indicates its suitability for global and hazardous location deployments. It does not support distributed clocks so it is not intended for applications that require precise synchronization between nodes. It can be safely stored in temperatures ranging between -40 to 85 centigrade. It offers reliable operation in high vibration environments such as machinery or mobile platforms as it conforms EN 60068-2-6 and EN 60068-2-27.
Frequently Asked Questions about EL6070:
Q: How does the EL6070 terminal benefit systems that require software-based feature unlocking?
A: The EL6070 allows licensing data transmission over EtherCAT, enabling secure software feature activation. This improves modularity and simplifies feature control in scalable systems.
Q: Why is the EL6070’s E-bus-only power design considered efficient?
A: EL6070 consumes only from the E-bus and not power contacts, simplifying wiring and minimizing power redundancy. This makes it ideal for compact, modular configurations.
Q: Can the EL6070 be used in high-altitude installations with fluctuating pressure?
A: The terminal’s rugged design and wide environmental tolerances support stable function even in variable pressure zones like elevated industrial sites.
Q: Why is the IP20 protection level important for the EL6070 EtherCAT terminal?
A: IP20 protection ensures the terminal is shielded from large particles and fits safely inside control cabinets. This is essential for compliant and clean electrical installations.
Q: How does the EL6070 improve cabinet layout flexibility during installation?
A: Its compact 50 g form factor and variable mounting position enable flexible placement. This helps optimize space in tightly packed automation panels.
