Product Description:
The EL9185 power supply terminal is produced by Beckhoff for the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. Within an EtherCAT I/O strand, the unit distributes supply potentials so downstream terminals can receive power without separate distribution wiring. Two integrated power contacts and four auxiliary taps allow the terminal to feed several groups of sensors or actuators, making it suitable for organizing supply segments in industrial automation cabinets. Its passive design distributes electrical power independently of the EtherCAT process data exchanged by neighboring I/O terminals.
The electrical interface is divided into 2 × 4 channels, separating the power connections into two identical blocks with four channels each. Each block can carry up to 10 A, allowing branch circuits to draw substantial current without external distribution bars. The incoming potential can reach a maximum of 230 V AC/DC, permitting either single-phase AC power or a high-voltage DC supply to be routed through the terminal. The housing latches onto a 35 mm DIN rail, and its variable installation position allows the terminal assembly to be mounted horizontally or vertically. Touch-safe connection slots and an IP20 enclosure rating help protect against accidental contact with energized conductors while the terminal remains installed inside a cabinet.
Four auxiliary terminals run parallel to each side of the main contacts, providing four positive and four negative distribution points for additional power branching. These taps are positioned beside the field wiring area and provide extra connection points beyond the main power contacts. Because the terminal distributes power without supplying process status, its process-image width is 0 bits, and it exchanges no cyclic data over the EtherCAT bus. The terminal therefore does not require input or output variables in the control program. The housing does not route a protective earth conductor, so the PE path is absent from this terminal. Protective grounding must be handled elsewhere in the cabinet when it is required by the connected equipment or supply circuit.
