The EL2808 is a high performance digital output terminal from the EL EtherCAT Terminals series, designed by the Beckhoff, and features compactness, robustness and high reliability for control of a large number of industrial automation applications. It has eight digital outputs and each output terminal is capable of supplying up to 0.5 A of current, where nominal voltage is 24 V DC with a tolerance of -15 to +20%. The design incorporates robust short circuit protection, and dissipation of reverse voltage protection to protect itself, and the connected components against electrical faults.

The EL2808 has a 2 wire connection technology that allows it to power actuators, indicator lamps, solenoids and other industrial products. The system also includes individually protected and isolated output channels. In terms of switching performance, the MOSFETs have a good time sensitivity with a typical turn on time (TON) of 60 us and turn of time (TOFF) of 300 us, making it easy to control in time critical applications.

To be able to integrate into the distributed control system, the terminal is designed to be tiny, lightweight (approximately 65 grams). It can be run reliably in diverse environments with a wide temperature range of -25 to +60 C. Moreover, it meets several worldwide standards such as CE, CCC, UL, ATEX, IECEx, and DNV GL which make it operable in a variety of industries and sectors such as oil and gas or mining.
