Product Description:

The EL9011 terminal is manufactured by Beckhoff within the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. It is the dedicated endpoint for an EtherCAT node stack, sealing the communication line once the functional modules are in place. Because it carries no I/O electronics, its role is purely structural: it closes the bus circuit, anchors the last housing to the rail, and marks the finishing position for labeling and panel layout in automated equipment. This arrangement makes the end of the terminal row easy to identify during service.

Mechanically, the EL9011 is an End cap, so the housing provides no additional power contacts, and the internal copper tracks stop at the preceding terminal. Mounting follows the standard DIN profile; the latch matches the 35 mm rail width specified in EN 60715. The product occupies the right-hand end slot of the terminal row, preventing any further side-by-side extension. When space constraints exist, the housing allows side mounting with or without power feed, allowing either an incoming voltage route or a clean section termination. There is no PE contact, and the design omits a rail connection bar, keeping the enclosure electrically neutral except for the common EtherCAT shield path.

The component tolerates a variable installation position, so it may be snapped horizontally or vertically as long as the latch engages the rail. Its enclosure meets the IP20 protection class, limiting use to closed cabinets while permitting finger-safe handling during wiring. Electromagnetic compliance aligns with EN 61000-6-2/EN 61000-6-4, while shock and vibration resistance follows EN 60068-2-6/EN 60068-2-27. A side mount with power feed can provide an immediate supply point, while a side mount without power feed can isolate a section and retain shield continuity without adding ground potential.

Internal Product Review

  • ‘‘The EL9011 is an EtherCAT terminal end cap designed for the right-hand end of Beckhoff terminal assemblies. IP20 protection and a variable installation position make integration clean and practical in control cabinet layouts. Support for side mounting with or without power makes this a well-executed finishing component for modular EtherCAT systems.’’
