The EL2252 is a novel digital output terminal manufactured by Beckhoff under the EtherCAT module series. As a digital output terminal, the EL2252 provides electrical isolation and status LEDs for monitoring the status of its output channels. This digital terminal contains two isolated channels with time stamps, allowing synchronous data monitoring and control. Because of its rapid response, this digital terminal is commonly employed for critical applications requiring the least amount of output delay possible. Aside from being a digital output terminal, the EL2252 supports distributed clocks, making it suitable for synchronous applications.

The EL2252 has dedicated power contacts for the 24 V line, 0 V line, and protective earth contact. Like other Beckhoff digital output terminals, the EL2252 is characterized by its accurate push-pull output channels. When used for automation systems, this unit has proven to be accurate in the microsecond range. The EL2252 can be used for general lamp loads, ohmic loads, and inductive loads. The supply voltage for its electronic components comes from the E-bus. Based on Beckhoff’s documentation, the E-bus and the unit’s field voltage have an electrical isolation of up to 500 V. Although this electrical module is designed to have a nominal rated output voltage of 24 VDC, the output channels can safely operate from 85% to 120% of the rated output voltage.

When operated in the push mode, the EL2252 provides short-circuit protection. At any point in time, this module can safely carry a maximum output current of 0.5 A per channel. Because of its compact form factor, the EL2252 is suitable for rail mounting and requires minimal installation space. Wake Industrial gives a one-year warranty upon purchase of this product.
