The EL2872 EtherCAT Terminal is a Digital output module from Beckhoff that is designed for use in industrial automation. The output module is designed for direct connection to multi-pin connector valve terminals and supports simplified wiring through insulation displacement contact technology.
The EL2872 digital output module offers 16 digital outputs that operate with a nominal voltage of 24 V DC and support ohmic, inductive, and lamp loads. Each output channel delivers a maximum output current of 0.5 A and is short-circuit proof, while the rated current per connection pin is up to 1 A. The terminal features reverse voltage protection and electrical isolation of 500 V between the E-bus and field potential. Switching times are typically 60 µs for turn-on and 300 µs for turn-off, ensuring fast response. The module is configured without the need for address or configuration settings, and it consumes approximately 130 mA from the E-bus and 25 mA plus load from power contacts. The terminal is designed for flat-ribbon cable connections, uses AWG28 conductors, and supports direct plug connection for simplified installation.
