Product Description:
The Beckhoff component, the EL1808 EtherCAT terminal reads digital signals from field devices and transmits their ON/OFF status to the controller through the E-bus. Beckhoff ensures quality automation with reliable and compact modules.
The EL1808 EtherCAT terminal is an 8-channel digital input module that works by supporting two-wire technology for connection. All channels receive binary signals that conform to EN 61131-2, type 1 and type 3 input standards. When operating, the terminal generally consumes 2 mA of current including the load at the power contacts and the E-bus side drains about 100 mA. It has a High Density (HD) housing which is designed to fit more channels in a smaller area. Each input has integrated signal LEDs by assisting in direct visual channel status monitoring at the module. The input configuration is static and requires no addressing or additional settings. Wire preparation requires a strip length from 8 to 9 mm by ensuring contact reliability in the connectors. It supports a maximum current load of 10 A at the power contacts which is utilized for field-level digital signal.
The EL1808 EtherCAT terminal’s E-bus and field potential are electrically isolated at 500 V by giving a secure and efficient division of control and field levels. The control system is shielded from electrical disruptions that come from the field wiring by this isolation barrier. Simple and quick wiring per channel is made possible by the 2-wire connection technology which speeds up system assembly in control cabinets. The terminal's small size and useful signal indication make it appropriate for applications where signal status clarity and space are crucial and it integrates easily into modular I/O systems.
