Product Description:
The EL3204-0200 analog input terminal from Beckhoff is a four-channel EtherCAT device that’s designed to connect resistance sensors directly. For connecting to industrial automation systems, the terminal offers a two-wire method. For accurate measuring and converting of resistance and temperature numbers, Beckhoff provides this terminal.
The EL3204-0200 analog input terminal allows straight connection of up to four resistance devices that can measure up to 240 kΩ. The terminal outputs the measured resistance value straight in ohms or changes it to a temperature value within the device. Temperature conversion can be made using preset characteristic curves such as Pt1000, Ni1000, and different NTC types. The terminal also supports conversion methods based on IEC 60751, the Steinhart-Hart equation, and the B-parameter equation, as well as a freely programmable conversion table for custom sensor calibration. The device works with a measuring current of less than 0.03 mA and offers a precision of 0.1°C per digit. The measurement mistake is less than ±0.3% compared to the full scale of 240 kΩ. The analog input terminal includes LED indicators and status bits in the EtherCAT process picture to show measuring capability. It is housed in a compact polycarbonate enclosure with measurements of 12 mm x 100 mm x 68 mm and is meant for installation on a 35 mm DIN rail.
The EL3204-0200 analog input terminal gives a configurable conversion time from 4 ms to 500 ms, with a default of approximately 24 ms. The device is intended for operation in temperatures from -25°C to +60°C and storage from -40°C to +85°C. It is compliant with EMC and shaking standards and holds CE, CCC, UL, ATEX, IECEx, and DNV GL certifications. The IP20 protection rating and variable installation position improve flexibility for system integration.
Frequently Asked Questions about EL3204-0200:
Q: How do LEDs function on the EL3204-0200 terminal?
A: LEDs on the analog input terminal indicate the measuring capability and operational status, providing immediate feedback for system monitoring.
Q: Why does EL3204-0200 use a 2-wire connection method?
A: The 2-wire connection simplifies wiring for resistance sensors and is suitable for many RTD and NTC sensor applications.
Q: Do conversion formulas in EL3204-0200 improve flexibility?
A: Yes, the availability of multiple conversion formulas and a programmable table allows users to adapt the terminal to various sensor types and standards.
Q: How does EL3204-0200 ensure measurement accuracy?
A: The terminal features a low measuring current and a measurement error of less than ±0.3% of full scale, enhancing accuracy for resistance and temperature readings.
Q: Why is electrical isolation important in EL3204-0200?
A: Electrical isolation of 500 V between the E-bus and signal voltage protects both the terminal and connected equipment from voltage surges and ground loops.
