The EL3174 EtherCAT terminal supports the reliable reading of the signals of voltage and current that are present in the systems. It is constructed by Beckhoff that makes automation simple for multiple control and industrial automation fields.

The EL3174 EtherCAT terminal features four multifunctional measurement inputs and is used to synchronize distributed clocks to within a precision of better than 1 microsecond with high accuracy in timing of all connected units. Its internal resistance is higher than 200 k ohms and the input is normally about 85 ohms. It can tolerate a maximum common-mode voltage of 35 V to accept differential voltage inputs. It has four input channels two are referenced to a differential ground for voltage measurement and two are single-ended for the rated current. It is powered by a direct link to the EtherCAT E-bus and needs no other supply to operate. The process image accommodates 16 bytes for input data which allows easy matching of sensor readings with the control system. Automatic configuration and address assignment remove the need for manual setup and support power measurement mode configuration.

The EL3174 terminal is capable of extended range settings and the flexibility of using the standard or compact process images as well as the possibility to activate the digital FIR and IIR filters to perform signal conditioning. EL3174 weighs about 65 grams and has a durable polycarbonate case. It has very compact dimensions a width of 12mm, height 100 mm and depth 68 mm which allow its installation into space-restricted habitats. The current value mainly features a dielectric strength of a maximum of 30 V by ensuring efficient isolation and safety in industries.
