The EL4004-0000 is a four-channel analog output terminal produced by Beckhoff within the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. By translating digital process data from the EtherCAT network into standardized voltage levels, the module drives actuators, control valves, or indicator circuits in distributed automation panels. Its compact profile allows it to sit beside digital and sensor terminals, giving machine builders a consistent EtherCAT I/O architecture while minimizing panel footprint. The unit operates as part of an I/O node that communicates cycle-synchronously over EtherCAT, ensuring deterministic updates required for motion, packaging, or process control tasks across distributed control sections.

Each of the 4 analog outputs shares a common channel ground and is referenced single-ended, an arrangement that simplifies wiring in grounded control cabinets. Output values are transferred to the process image as a 4 × 16-bit AO output structure, giving the controller a fine 12-bit resolution for every channel.
