Product Description:

The EL1814 is an input terminal that receives electrical signals from external devices and sends that information to a controller. Beckhoff is a well-known manufacturer of high performing terminals.

The EL EtherCAT Terminals series module contributes 4 digital input bits to the controller’s process image which means it can detect 4 separate digital input signals. It weighs around 60 grams and it accepts multiple wire types which offers flexibility for different wiring practices and installation standards. The standards it conforms to are EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4 which means it is resistant to electrical noise and won’t emit harmful interference. It can be installed in any variation and there is no restrictions on how you mount it. It has filtering for input signal stabilization such as 3 ms for debounce filter and 10 µs response for noise filtering. It itself draws around 2 mA from the power contacts. A 3 ampere current is drawn by each of its input channels when receiving a HIGH signal. It is of compact size with 12 mm width when installed. It is compatible with most industrial enclosures and cabinets as it can be mounted on a 35 mm mounting rail according to EN 60715.

The EL1814 input terminal uses around 90 mA from the internal E-bus for internal logic and communication. It comes with four separate digital inputs for monitoring on/off states from external devices like sensors or switches. The module is featured with 3 wire technology which includes signal, ground and power. All of its internal circuits are powered through the bus or power contacts. It is optimized for 24 V DC input signals, but allows a tolerance from about 20.4 V to 28.8 V.

Frequently Asked Questions about EL1814:

Q: Why does the EL1814 use a 3-wire connection technology instead of 2-wire?

A: The 3-wire technology in the EL1814 ensures stable reference grounding. It improves signal reliability and reduces the risk of false readings.

Q: How does the 3 ms input filter of the EL1814 impact input signal stability?

A: The 3 ms filter debounces the input signals, filtering out unwanted noise. This leads to more accurate and stable digital readings.

Q: What advantage does the compact 12 mm width of EL1814 offer during installation?

A: With a 12 mm width, the EL1814 saves space in control cabinets. This allows more terminals to fit on the same DIN rail.

Q: Why is a tolerance range of -15% / +20% for 24 VDC input important in EL1814?

A: This tolerance allows the EL1814 to handle minor voltage fluctuations. It ensures consistent performance even under unstable power conditions.

Q: How does 95% relative humidity resistance benefit the EL1814 input terminal?

A: The EL1814 withstands high humidity without malfunctioning. This makes it suitable for humid industrial environments.
