Beckhoff EL3204-0018 is an EL EtherCAT Terminal Serial, multipurpose and has the ability of temperature and resistance for a variety of sensors. The device can work with a variety of sensors which include Pt100, Pt200, Pt500, Pt1000, Ni100, Ni120, Ni1000 and KTY sensors as well as resistance measurement making it applicable in numerous industrial operations. The terminal employs a simple 2-wire connection method for easy installation and wiring.

A unit analysis of the features shows that, EL3204-0018 supports a configurable conversion time from 2-800 ms with an 85 ms default value setting. This enables users select on requirement application as far accuracy and speed are concerned. The measuring current does not exceed 0.5mA therefore minimizing the load on the sensors connected. It is also capable of achieving a resolution of 0.1 °C/digit and less than ± 0.5° C measurement uncertainty for Pt sensors.

The terminal provides the ability to connect within a wide thermal range, -200 °C to + 850 °C for Pt sensors and -60 °C to + 250 °C for Ni sensors. This makes it ideal for both high and low temperature operations. It is also possible to incorporate into the EL3204-0018 integrated circuits that provide advanced features such as digital filtering, limit value monitoring, which in turn increases accuracy and allows them to act when critical limits are attained. The terminal has four 32-bit RTD inputs which consume a current of 190 mA from the E-bus and supports EtherCAT networks through compliant data transmission. It has an approximate weight of 60 grams and works in the temperature range of -25°C to +60°C with storage temperature as low as -40°C.
