Product Description:

The EL6070-1296 is an EtherCAT terminal manufactured by Beckhoff and supplied within the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. Placed alongside other I/O nodes in a control cabinet, the unit provides local memory resources and power routing so that sensors, actuators, and the PLC exchange data over the EtherCAT backplane in a single rail-mounted assembly. The unit snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail in any orientation, which supports flexible placement within compact cabinet layouts.

The terminal can forward a continuous load of 10 A, a rating that aligns with its increased-load-capacity designation and supports high-current peripheral groups. Its enclosure is molded from Polycarbonate, giving the module electrical insulation and mechanical rigidity without adding significant mass. With a protection rating of IP20, the device is touch-safe for cabinet installation but is not sealed against liquids. A non-volatile storage block of 1 MByte is integrated for retaining configuration files and application parameters after power is removed. The housing occupies only 12 mm of DIN-rail width, allowing dense stacking of multiple terminals in restricted panel spaces while still permitting air circulation between modules.

Internal electronics draw operating power via the E-Bus, so no additional supply wiring is required. Because distributed-clock functionality is absent, time-synchronization tasks remain with other nodes in the EtherCAT network. The terminal fulfills industrial electromagnetic-compatibility limits defined by EN 61000-6-2/EN 61000-6-4, minimizing emissions and ensuring immunity in noisy plant environments. Resistance to vibration and shock complies with EN 60068-2-6/EN 60068-2-27, validating the module for mounting on moving machinery or within transport-prone equipment racks.
