Product Description:

The Beckhoff EL3112 is a two-channel analog input terminal which belongs to the EL EtherCAT Terminal Series. The EL3112 is specifically designed to measure current signals, making it useful in applications such as process control. The device is intended for applications that require two differential inputs with a range of 0 – 20 mA.

This terminal comes in a 16-bit data resolution form which means it supports accurate conversion within a measurement error range of less than ±0.3%. The performance of this measurement device has shown reliable character which supports such operations as fast mode with conversion time of 50 μs, 35 μs in ultra-fast mode, showing the fast response of the device in dynamic applications. Another advantage of the device is a noise level that is close to zero due to the input filter being spread vertically to a frequency limit of 5 kHz.

The EL3112 allows the EtherCAT network to be accurate within sub microsecond accuracy while operating it with stability. It is thus possible to use this device for applications requiring quick measurements and synchronized timing intervals. Direct connection through the E-bus has also overcome the barrier of needing additional power supplies due to the device operating at 170mA. The device stands out by providing 85 Ω + diode voltage and the ability of handling up to 10V. The surge voltage resistance of the device reaches up to 35V, thereby boasting good reliability even in the presence of voltage surges. It supplies 8 bytes of input data embedded within the process image, allowing for straightforward interfacing with the control systems. The operating temperature of the EL3112 lies between -25oC and +60oC, while its protection rating is IP20, enabling it’s in controlled environments. Its small size and ability to switch modes quickly provide an advantageous solution in harsh industrial settings where accurate and rapid current measurements are required.
