Product Description:

The EL5151 EtherCAT Terminal is designed to interface directly with one incremental encoder. It supports 24 V HTL encoders and is suitable for use in automation systems requiring high speed counting and positioning. This terminal also includes a digital input for storing or blocking the encoder count. Its compact design and EtherCAT compatibility make it suitable for modular and space limited control cabinets.

The EL5151 EtherCAT terminal by Beckhoff operates with a nominal voltage of 24 V DC and supports a -15 % to + 20 % voltage tolerance. It features distributed clock functionality and delivers a resolution of 1/256 bit micro increments. The device supports a maximum input frequency of 100 kHz that enables precise and high speed data acquisition. It consumes approximately 100 mA (plus load) from the power contacts and about 130 mA from the E bus. The EtherCAT terminal incorporates advanced integrated functionalities such as configurable gate and latch operations for precise event control, micro increment processing enabling high resolution position tracking and edge timestamping with nanosecond accuracy for exact timing analysis. It weighs approximately 50 grams and has a polycarbonate housing. Installation is simple with mounting support for 35 mm DIN rails in compliance with EN 60715 secured with a locking mechanism.

The EL5151 EtherCAT terminal can be side mounted using double slot and key connections. Signal LEDs are integrated into the terminal for clear status indication. It supports frequency and period duration measurement for signal characterization as well as versatile up/down counter capabilities with configurable counting modes and overflow detection. This facilitates complex counting and pulse evaluation tasks within industrial automation systems. It features a compact form factor with 12 mm width and 100 mm height.
