The EL4112-0010 is an analog current output terminal produced by Beckhoff for the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. The device mounts on a standard EtherCAT I/O station and delivers precise current signals that drive valves, converters, or other process elements directly from the fieldbus. By combining signal generation and network connectivity in a 12 mm-wide housing, it reduces control-cabinet wiring while supplying deterministic output updates synchronized to the EtherCAT cycle. Its narrow form helps dense terminal stacks fit into compact cabinets where several I/O functions share one coupler.

In operation, the terminal provides 2 galvanically isolated channels, and each channel uses a 16-bit conversion depth mapped into a process image width of 2 × 16-bit. Both channels are updated simultaneously because the sampling type is simultaneous, and the ground reference is single-ended for straightforward loop wiring. When only one channel is enabled, the fast mode reaches 20 kSps, while activating distributed clocks limits the per-channel rate to 5 kSps. The output range extends from -10 mA to +10 mA, and loads below 200 Ω keep an accuracy of ±0.3 % of full scale. Each channel also tolerates 100 mA of shield current without affecting signal integrity.

The internal power contacts can conduct 4 A, supplying the module and downstream terminals without separate feeders, while the shield connection handles 100 mA of leakage or induced current. Channel compliance supports a load of 500 Ω max, which allows use in higher-impedance current loops and helps support longer cable runs. The enclosure has an IP20 protection rating, so the terminal is intended for installation inside a protected cabinet rather than for direct exposure on the machine. It maintains function in non-condensing atmospheres up to 95 % relative humidity, which supports stable analog output in enclosed panels where heat and moisture can vary during operation.
