Product Description:
EL2008 is an industrial EtherCAT terminal. It is designed and produced by Beckhoff Automation for industrial applications. The terminal provides an interface between the digital outputs on the terminal and control devices on the EtherCAT network. Control devices located on the EtherCAT network can supply binary 24 Volts DC output signals to actuators via the EtherCAT terminal. There are 8 output channels on the terminal. LEDs on the unit indicate the status of the output channels. Channels on the terminal support 1-wire connection technology. The nominal output voltage for each channel is 24 Volts DC. Load types that can be attached to the outputs include lamp loads, ohmic loads and inductive loads. Each output can supply up to 0.5 Amps current. The output channels are protected from short-circuits and reverse polarity.
The typical short-circuit current is less than 2 Amps. Breaking energy per channel is less than 150 mJ. The switching time for the ON state is 60 microseconds and the switching time for the OFF state is 300 microseconds. E-bus on the terminal typically consumes 110 milliamps. 500 Volts of electrical isolation between the terminal E-bus and the field potential provides operating safety for equipment and for personnel. The power contacts draw 15 milliamps current plus the load current. Configuration or address settings for the EL2008 terminal are not required. Weight of the unit is 55 grams. Beckhoff recommends -25 to 60 degree Celsius operating temperature and -40 to 85 degrees Celsius storage temperature. The non-condensing relative humidity should not exceed 95%. With an IP20 rated housing, the EL2008 unit is not suited to outdoor use unless it is mounted inside an industrial cabinet.
