The EL9011-0000 is a passive EtherCAT I/O component manufactured by Beckhoff for the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. It functions as the mechanical and electrical terminator at the farthest right of a terminal string, completing the bus segment so that upstream modules can exchange process data without interruption inside an industrial control cabinet. Because it is a passive end terminal, it does not process I/O signals or supply field power.

The terminal is clipped onto a 35 mm DIN rail and can be oriented in a variable installation position, which simplifies enclosure layout. With a protection rating of IP20, the housing prevents finger contact with live conductors while remaining suited for closed-panel operation. The unit meets the EMC immunity and emission levels in EN 61000-6-2 / EN 61000-6-4, so it does not require additional shielding under normal cabinet conditions. There is no additional power contact, so the module neither passes nor injects the system’s 24 V power rail. The design also omits a mounting-rail ground connection, a PE contact, bus diagnostic circuitry, and a power re-infeed path, reducing it to the essential conductors required only for EtherCAT communication.

Operation is allowed up to 95% RH without condensation, and shock and vibration withstand levels follow EN 60068-2-6 / EN 60068-2-27. Physically, the terminal occupies the right-hand end of the node group and must be placed side-by-side with power contact terminals to keep the bus profile continuous. Because no internal diagnostics are provided, verification of proper insertion relies on the controller’s network scan, and the absence of a power re-infeed means upstream power modules remain solely responsible for voltage distribution.
