Product Description:
The EL9100 is a power-supply EtherCAT terminal produced by Beckhoff within the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. In an I/O station, it introduces the 24 V field voltage onto the power-contact bus, allowing subsequent slice modules to draw distributed current. By separating the supply from the communication lines, the device simplifies decentralized control-panel wiring and fits directly onto the common 35 mm DIN rail used across Beckhoff automation systems. It acts as a dedicated feed segment so that digital and analog terminals share a stable potential without external junction blocks.
On the supply side, the terminal operates at a nominal system voltage of 24 V DC. Its single additional power contact passes up to 10 A to downstream terminals, while the typical consumption from the E-bus stays at 90 mA, leaving nearly all available current for field loads. The internal copper provides an E-bus-to-field isolation rating of 500 V, which helps prevent logic interference during ground shifts. Mechanical integration uses a 35 mm mounting rail, and there is no electrical bonding between the housing and the rail, so protective earth must be routed through the designated PE terminals. The positive supply enters on terminals 2 and 6, negative returns on 3 and 7, and protective earth connects at 4 and 8; a single additional power contact forwards the same potential to the rest of the station.
The terminal is designed for ambient temperatures from -25 °C up to +60 °C during operation, supporting both cold-start cabinets and warm machine spaces. For storage, the allowable range widens to -40 °C to +85 °C without degrading contact plating. The terminal carries an IP20 protection class, so it must be installed inside an enclosure that shields it from contact and dripping moisture. Under those conditions, it tolerates relative humidity levels as high as 95% without condensation, which supports stable 24 V power distribution in humid production areas.
