Product Description:
The Beckhoff EL3014 is a small and flexible EtherCAT terminal designed to provide high precision analog current measurement in industrial automation applications. This module is part of the EL EtherCAT Terminals series and is specifically designed to process analog current signals with high fidelity and with minimal latency. It has four differential inputs, which can be used to directly connect analog sensors and transmitters in 0 to 20 mA current range. This differential architecture offers increased noise immunity and is particularly suited for electrically noisy industrial environments.
With a 12 bit resolution, the EL3014 provides fine grained signal acquisition and conversion. The resolution is presented internally in a 16-bit format with sign, which provides sufficient data width for accurate processing and integration into control algorithms. The terminal has a default conversion time of 0.625 milliseconds, which can be configured to application requirements, for rapid and consistent data throughput. A limit frequency of 1 kHz in the input filter helps to suppress high frequency noise and allows clean interpretation of the signal.
The surge voltage resistance of this terminal up to 35 V DC offers strong protection against voltage transients, improving system reliability and longevity. The internal resistance is about 85 ohms plus diode voltage, which is good for stable signal measurement without much voltage drop. Moreover, the EL3014 is also able to operate with a common mode voltage (UCM) up to 10 V, allowing safe operation in systems with potential grounding differences between channels.
The EL3014 is designed for seamless integration into EtherCAT based systems and draws power directly from the E-bus, eliminating the need for external power supplies. With a compact housing of just 12 mm wide, it is well suited for control panels with limited real estate, and modular I/O configurations. It operates in a wide temperature range of -25 to +60C to deliver reliable performance in harsh and variable environments.
