Product Description:
The EL9186 is an 8-channel power distribution terminal produced by Beckhoff within the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. As an I/O segment module, it feeds auxiliary supplies through the EtherCAT backplane so that field devices such as sensors, relays, and small actuators receive staged voltages without external wiring blocks. By mounting on a standard DIN rail next to logic and signal terminals, the unit simplifies local power routing inside machine control cabinets. This compact arrangement allows power distribution to remain close to the connected EtherCAT devices and reduces the need for separate distribution components.
This terminal occupies only 15 mm of rail space, stands 100 mm tall, and extends 70 mm deep, so sufficient space can be allocated for ventilation and service loops. Its enclosure is rated IP20, limiting installation to protected indoor enclosures while allowing conductors to be inserted without special tools. The block provides 8 outputs, each routed to both a spring clamp and a corresponding positive power contact on the EtherCAT bus. Matching terminal points provide a one-to-one connection between field wiring and the internal feed. An additional set of eight power contacts runs in parallel for upstream or downstream daisy-chain supply, while the positive output polarity supports common 24 VDC circuits. The terminal does not include a PE contact, so protective earth must be supplied elsewhere in the terminal row. Its nominal AC voltage is limited to 30 V, keeping operation within extra-low-voltage requirements.
Each channel can carry up to 10 A, and the entire terminal supports that current without derating when mounted on a 35 mm DIN rail. Direct-current applications are permitted at voltages up to 60 V, allowing the terminal to distribute 24 V logic power as well as higher braking or clutch voltages. The plastics and contact plating tolerate up to 95% relative humidity when condensation is avoided, allowing operation in humid production areas such as bottling or textile plants. The internally bridged power contacts allow a single incoming feed to energize all eight channel terminal points, reducing the amount of field wiring required inside the enclosure.
