The EL4112-0000 is an output terminal produced by Beckhoff within the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. As an EtherCAT slave module, it connects field devices to a controller over the real-time bus and supplies two analog channels to actuators or measurement circuits in distributed control architectures. By integrating signal conditioning directly on the DIN rail, the terminal reduces panel wiring and supports modular expansion of industrial automation systems.

The process image contains 2 x 16-bit data words, with one word for each channel, so the PLC can write full-scale numerical values without additional packing. The outputs share a single-ended ground reference and are updated through a simultaneous sampling stage that reaches 20 kSps; this rate allows coordinated waveform generation across distributed nodes. Each channel delivers a nominal resolution of 16 bits, giving 65,536 discrete steps over the configured output span. To protect the driving amplifier, the allowable load impedance is limited to 500 Ω, and the front-end circuitry resides in an enclosure carrying the IP20 rating that is intended for installation inside a control cabinet. With two outputs available, the device can drive paired actuators while maintaining electrical isolation through the EtherCAT backplane.

For physical mounting, the terminal clips onto a 35 mm DIN rail and can be oriented in any position without affecting thermal behavior. The internal power contacts can conduct up to 4 A, ensuring that the backplane feed remains stable when several terminals are daisy-chained. The shield connection, rated for 100 mA, diverts leakage currents from screened cables to ground and suppresses high-frequency noise. Operation is permitted in ambient air with relative humidity up to 95%, provided condensation is avoided, making the module suitable for humid production areas where cabinets are properly sealed.
