Product Description:
The EL9180 is a supply terminal produced by Beckhoff within the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. As a compact I/O component, it attaches to an EtherCAT node and distributes auxiliary voltages and reference potentials through integrated power contacts, simplifying field wiring inside control cabinets. In industrial automation systems, the terminal serves as a passive power feed module so downstream digital or analog terminals can receive stable operating voltage without separate distribution blocks.
The terminal has 3 integrated power conductors, each of which can carry up to 10 A to energize dense groups of I/O terminals without external distribution bars. The insulation system supports a maximum nominal voltage of 230 V AC/DC, allowing the module to route either direct current or single-phase alternating current for compatible relays and actuators. The power contacts follow the standard EL arrangement and pass voltage to neighboring terminals when the modules are connected. The IP20 enclosure guards against finger contact and the entry of solid objects larger than 12.5 mm, making it suitable for installation inside a protected control cabinet. The housing mounts on a 35 mm DIN rail, and a spring clip on the base provides the mounting-rail connection required for functional grounding.
The carrier includes 2 additional power contacts that extend supply capacity and can be bridged internally across neighboring terminal positions. The conductive link can span 1 to 5 internal bridge positions, eliminating the need for manually installed jumpers across the selected terminals. The underside includes a PE contact that maintains protective earth continuity throughout the terminal group. Because the unit has no address settings, it requires no DIP switches or rotary selectors and assumes its bus position automatically when the EtherCAT master scans the network. Each energized power contact provides two connection points, allowing separate potentials to be routed through the terminal group while keeping their return paths distinct.
