Product Description:
The EL6631 is a compact terminal that is used to enable PROFINET IO device communication in an EtherCAT system. It is an in-line interface used to couple EtherCAT networks and PROFINET IO controllers according to standard protocol specifications. The terminal has two onboard ports with a direct connection capability.
Communication at a baud rate of 100 Mbit/s for fieldbus levels makes data exchange fast and reliable. The EL6631 draws its power from the power delivered directly from the E-bus and draws only a paltry 190 mA of power, thus making the total power system minimal. It measures only 12 mm wide, 100 mm high, and 68 mm deep and hence can be readily inserted into small control cabinets without taking up large space. Its installation is supported by conventional DIN rail mounting, enabling the easy inclusion in other EtherCAT terminals. The EL6631 facilitates easy integration between control systems based on the EtherCAT principle and external PROFINET-enabled devices like actuators, sensors, and distributed I/O to enable easy interaction between them. It allows for users to configure the EtherCAT network as a PROFINET IO device, in other words, data can be routed directly to higher-level PLCs or industrial controllers running the PROFINET protocol.
