Product Description:

The ELX5151 EtherCAT Terminal from Beckhoff represents an accurate, dependable device that serves industrial automation.

Compliant with IEC 60947-5-6 standards, the terminal provides one channel to connect encoders, which allows it to function in different applications. The terminal enables connection of encoder devices using A and B signals, which makes it appropriate for encoder systems that utilize differential signals. An open circuit voltage measurement of 8.2 V DC allows the ELX5151 to deliver suitable voltage conditions for operational reliability of attached encoders. Stable and exact signal differentiation occurs because the terminal utilizes "0" signal currents at ≤ 1.2 mA and "1" signal currents at ≥ 2.1 mA. The terminal contains a 0.2 mA switching hysteresis that enables precise signal detection through accurate triggering of signal changes. The terminal protects the system through its 9 mA short-circuit current that safeguards against wiring mistakes and equipment faults. The terminal includes two fault detection mechanisms for revealing cable breaks at low currents (≤ 200 µA) and short circuits at high currents (≥ 6.0 mA).

The system maintains reliability by implementing these features, which also enable users to identify any wiring problems that could impact performance. The terminal runs from 24 V DC that enters through power contacts, while the ELX9560 power supply generates the required voltage for all electronic components. Operational power consumption at the power contacts and E-bus reaches 15 mA plus the applied load and 80 mA, respectively, to maintain effective energy utilization. It can be purchased at Wake Industrial with a one-year warranty.
