Product Description:

The EL3074 is a 4-channel analog input EtherCAT terminal that Beckhoff made for industrial automation to get accurate voltage and current signals. As part of Beckhoff's modular I/O portfolio, it fits in perfectly with EtherCAT systems and offers reliable signal processing with channels that can be configured and functional separation.

The EL3074 analog input EtherCAT terminal has four analog input channels that can be set up separately. Each channel can accept voltage signals ranging from -10 V to +10 V or current signals ranging from -20 mA to +20 mA. Each channel has an internal resistance of 85 Ω for current inputs and a voltage input impedance of more than 200 kΩ. The measuring error stays below 0.3% of full scale, and the 1 kHz cut-off frequency of the input filter cuts down on noise disturbance. In multiplexing mode, sampling happens every 1 ms, and the minimum EtherCAT cycle time of 500 µs makes it possible for data to be sent quickly. When multiple devices work together in sync, distributed clock synchronization is needed to make sure that time is accurate to within 1 µs. The E-bus provides power at a usual rate of 150 mA, and input channels are functionally isolated from the EtherCAT network up to 707 V DC. Overcurrent safety resets itself at 50 mA per channel, which keeps damage from happening when there is a fault.

For commissioning, the EL3074 analog input EtherCAT terminal has an increased input range of ±107% and can take in a single-ended signal. The mounting meets EN 60715 standards using a 35 mm DIN rail. Electronic protection and diagnostics on the terminal make it easier to connect to systems that need accurate analog data. The terminal ensures that measurements are accurate and allows for the use of broader input areas for diagnostics, thanks to its 12-bit resolution.

Frequently Asked Questions about EL3074:

Q: Does EL3074 support distributed clock synchronization?

A: Yes, terminal’s distributed clocks achieve sub-1 µs accuracy. This enables precise synchronization in multi-device EtherCAT networks.

Q: How does EL3074 handle overcurrent protection?

A: The terminal uses self-resetting electronic protection at 50 mA per channel. It prevents damage without manual intervention during faults.

Q: Why is EL3074’s input filter set to 1 kHz?

A: The 1 kHz cut-off frequency reduces high-frequency noise. This ensures stable measurements in electrically noisy environments.

Q: Does EL3074 require external power for operation?

A: No, the terminal draws power via E-bus at 150 mA. This simplifies wiring and reduces external components.

Q: How does EL3074 achieve ±0.3% measurement accuracy?

A: High-quality components and calibration minimize errors. This ensures reliable data for critical automation tasks.
