The EL4034 is a four-channel analog output terminal produced by Beckhoff and offered within the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. In EtherCAT I/O stations, this module generates voltage levels that drive actuators or provide reference signals for industrial control loops. By converting digital process data from the fieldbus into four independent analog outputs, the device links PLC logic to transducers without requiring separate interface hardware. Its compact format allows direct installation on a DIN rail alongside other terminals inside machine control panels.
It draws user power from the system supply at 24 VDC, and the backplane connection eliminates extra power wiring. Each scan cycle transmits a process image consisting of four 16-bit words, providing one word per channel for setpoint data. The digital values are translated into analog levels with 12-bit resolution, allowing 4,096 discrete steps across the selected output range. Signal updates use multiplexed sampling, so the four outputs are refreshed sequentially within the same EtherCAT cycle. The maximum allowable relative humidity is 95%, permitting reliable operation in humid production areas when condensation is prevented. This arrangement allows the terminal to provide multiple analog control signals while using a compact process image and shared system power.
The housing has an IP20 protection rating, making it suitable for enclosed cabinets where protection against contact with hazardous components is required.
