The Beckhoff EL4122 is a real time precision analog output terminal for high accuracy, speed and reliability over the industrial applications. Part of the Beckhoff EL EtherCAT Terminals series, the EL4122 has two analog current outputs with signal range of 4 to 20 mA to allow for accurate actuation of control valves, valves or other analog passive components in process automation systems.

Each output has a resolution of 16 bits (including sign), allowing fine signal output control across its entire range. The EL4122 has a high output rate of up to 15 kilo samples per second (ksps) and responds quickly to changing data in time critical environments. Additionally, distributed clock functionality is integrated to provide even greater timing accuracy, synchronization can be as precise as less than 1 microsecond, essential for applications where coordinated motion or exact process timing is critical. The module is powered from a 24 V DC power supply via power contacts and is short-circuit proof with load handling up to 500 Ohms. It also includes safety features such as a configurable watchdog function and optional user synchronization which enable custom fail safe responses and higher system stability.

The EL4122 is compact and lightweight at around 60 grams despite its robust functionality. The power contacts draw typical power 15 mA plus load and 110 mA through the E-bus. The device is as easy to integrate into EtherCAT network as it is reliable, posing it as a good device for varying types of modular control cabinet design in industries.
