Installed alongside other bus couplers, it converts EtherCAT process data into IO-Link sensor or actuator signals, allowing PLCs to communicate with intelligent field devices without additional gateways. In industrial automation, the unit simplifies wiring and parameter access for sensors, valves, and small drives through a single shielded port for each device.
Its wiring concept uses a 3-wire connection, so power, supply reference, and serial data share one cord set for each channel. Adjustable data exchange is supported at 4.8, 38.4, or 230.4 kbaud; selecting the highest rate shortens cycle times when sensors must transmit diagnostic blocks. The terminal draws up to 500 mA from the E-Bus and power contacts to energize its electronics and supply peripheral loads through the four M12 sockets.
