The EL1088 is an 8-channel digital input terminal made by Beckhoff that specializes in automation technology. The terminal is made for industrial automation systems that need to reliably receive and send digital signals to more advanced controls. The terminal fits on a 35 mm DIN rail that meets EN 60715 standards. It has a small polycarbonate case with green LEDs on each input channel.

The EL1088 EtherCAT terminal works with a nominal input voltage of 24 V DC and a range of -15% to +20%. The device allows ground switching configurations that let multi-channel sensors be directly connected using 1-wire technology. The input terminal is capable of operating in temperatures spanning from 0°C to +55°C when installed horizontally and up to +45°C when installed in other locations, and the temperature range for storage is from -25°C to +85°C. Each input channel uses about 3 mA and a 3-ms input filter to ensure stable signal recognition and get rid of mechanical switch bounce. The E-bus and the field potential are separated by 500 V of electrical isolation, which enhances the safety of the work environment. It takes about 25 mA from the power connections and 90 mA from the E-bus to power the terminal. The IP20 rating means that the device is safe and gives 8 input bits in the process image. 

The EL1088 EtherCAT terminal weighs approximately 50 g and supports up to 95% relative humidity, non-condensing. The terminal is suitable for applications that require ground switching and stable signal acquisition. The digital input terminal enables direct connection of multi-channel sensors using a 1-wire connection technique and ensures no mechanical bouncing due to its 3 ms input filter.
