Product Description:
The EL3124 is an input terminal that is used mostly in Industrial automation applications. Beckhoff is the well-known manufacturer of high quality automation terminals.
The EL3124 Output Terminal has an input filter limit frequency of 5 kHz which it can handle without attenuation. The four analog channels send 16-bit data and the status info is 8 bits per channel. It is designed to receive standard industrial current loop signals in the range from 4mA to 20 mA. It doesn’t need an external power supply while it draws power directly from the EtherCAT bus. It has a measuring error less than ± 0.3% at 0 °C ... +55 °C and less than ± 0.5% when the extended temperature range is used. It takes about 100 µs to convert the analog signal to digital format which suggests quicker updates and better performance in real-time systems. The physical size of the module is 15 mm x 100 mm x 70 mm approximately. It comes with an internal resistance of 85 Ω type. + diode voltage which is seen by the signal source.
The EL Terminals series module is featured with 16 bit resolution which indicates how finely the signal can be digitized. The terminal has a current consumption of 130 m amperes via bus. The module has a 60 g of total weight. It measures signal relative to another input rather than ground. For receiving analog input signals it has 4 channels. It has an extremely precise synchronization with clock precision of less than 1 micro seconds which is important in time sensitive applications like motion control. The maximum voltage difference between signal reference and ground is 10 volts.
Frequently Asked Questions about EL3124:
Q: How does the 500 V electrical isolation improve system safety in EL3124?
A: The 500 V isolation protects internal circuits from voltage surges and ground loops. It enhances durability and ensures reliable operation in harsh environments.
Q: Why does the Beckhoff EL3124 use multiplex sampling for analog inputs?
A: Multiplex sampling allows the EL3124 to efficiently process multiple channels with a single ADC. This reduces cost and maintains fast signal acquisition.
Q: How does the differential ground reference in EL3124 improve signal quality?
A: Differential referencing in the EL3124 minimizes noise from external electrical interference. It ensures accurate signal measurement even in noisy industrial environments.
Q: What is the benefit of the 5 kHz input filter limit frequency in EL3124?
A: The 5 kHz filter ensures the EL3124 captures fast-changing signals without loss of fidelity. This is essential for precise monitoring in dynamic systems.
Q: How does 16-bit resolution benefit analog signal processing in Beckhoff EL3124?
A: A 16-bit resolution allows the EL3124 to detect very fine changes in input signals. This improves measurement precision for sensitive control applications.
