EL6632-2000 is an EL series EtherCAT terminal from Beckhoff. EtherCAT terminals are modular devices used in EtherCAT networks that serve as an interface between the EtherCAT network and field devices, such as sensors, actuators, or other automation components. These terminals are designed to simplify the connection and integration of various devices into an EtherCAT system. EL6632-2000 is a terminal with two Profinet communication interfaces. Therefore, the terminal acts as an interface between devices on Profinet networks and the EtherCAT network. It offers Profinet functionality and diagnostic functions. The Profinet networks work with line topology, uses twisted pair Ethernet cables, and can support inter-device distances of up to 100 meters at maximum 100 Mbps data transmission rates. Network diagnostics are available via LLDP and SNMP protocols. The terminal has a compact housing with built-in signal LED indictors.
Polycarbonate is used for making the IP20 rated terminal housing. Dimensions of the compact terminal are 24 x 100 x 52 millimeters and it weighs 75 grams. It mounts on 35 mm DIN rails that conform to EN 60715. Side-by-side mounting is supported. The wiring requires a specified type of push-in connection. The maximum IRT or RT devices that can connect to the Profinet network depend on the cycle time and data configuration. Up to 5 IRT-capable devices or up to 15-RT capable devices can connect to the terminal. Power supply is available via the E-bus on the terminal. Safety for operators and equipment is enabled via 500 Volts electrical isolation. As the EL6632-2000 terminal is a sensitive device with special handling requirements, only trained personnel with relevant qualifications and experience should handle, install, operate and maintain it.
