The EL6224-1006 is an IO-Link master terminal produced by Beckhoff within the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. Installed on a standard DIN rail, the unit extends an EtherCAT segment with multiple IO-Link channels so distributed sensors and actuators can be incorporated without additional gateways. In an automation line the terminal delivers point-to-point digital communication, letting controllers read process data and set parameters over the same field voltage conductors. By converting EtherCAT telegrams to IO-Link frames, it simplifies wiring and reduces the number of fieldbus nodes required inside a control cabinet.

The module provides 16 connection points so each IO-Link port offers a sensor supply and a switched signal line using the 3-wire topology. To power connected devices, the terminal draws a maximum device supply of 500 mA from the E-bus and distributes an external field supply of 24 V DC to the port pins. Compact mechanics support dense installations; the housing is only 12 mm wide, extends 68 mm deep behind the rail, and rises 100 mm high.
