Product Description:
The EL3062-0000 is an analog input card produced by Beckhoff for the EL EtherCAT Terminals series. Installed adjacent to other I/O slices, it bridges field-level sensors to the industrial EtherCAT network by translating voltage signals into bus data. The module lets a PLC monitor slow or medium-speed process variables, such as potentiometer positions, pneumatic pressures, or temperature transmitter outputs, without adding a remote control cabinet or standalone converter. This layout helps reduce long analog cable runs between sensors and the central controller.
It accepts two single-ended channels from 0 to 10 V. Each channel is converted in 0.625 ms with a native resolution of 12 bits. An analog low-pass limits bandwidth to 1 kHz, and multiplex sampling alternates between the two inputs so neither channel requires a dedicated converter. The successive-approximation method ensures deterministic latency suitable for closed-loop tasks. Supply comes from the backplane, and the module draws 130 mA from the E-bus, so no external 24 V wiring is needed. Single-ended wiring references both signals to a common sensor ground, simplifying harnessing in compact machines while still delivering individual data words to the controller.
In the process image, the terminal publishes 2 B Status + 2 B Value/Ch, with each reading occupying 16 bits. Bus isolation is rated for 30 V dielectric strength, protecting upstream electronics against minor wiring mistakes. The slim housing carries an ingress rating of IP20, so it must reside inside a control enclosure. The terminal does not support distributed clock synchronization, so it relies on standard EtherCAT cycle timing, and it stores no CoE parameters. That behavior suits applications where standard cyclic updates are sufficient and time-synchronized sampling across terminals is not required.
