Product Description:
Beckhoff EL3681 is a 1-channel analog input EtherCAT Terminal that can be utilized as a digital voltmeter to measure AC and DC voltages and currents. The terminal is designed to work with EtherCAT networks directly and is used in industrial automation tasks that need precise and automatic electrical measurements.
The EL3681 analog input terminal's voltage measurement bands, which include 300 mV, 3 V, 30 V, and 300 V AC/DC, are versatile and have a wide range of applications. A high-current path is employed for heavier loads, and current can be measured in increments of 100 mA, 1 A, and 10 A. The terminal has an 18-bit plus sign resolution across all measuring bands, which lets it pick up signals accurately. For DC signals, the measuring process uses mathematical averaging. For AC signals, it calculates the actual RMS value. With a minimum of 65 ms, the conversion time is 0.5 s and goes up to 1 s when the measurement range changes. The sample rate can be configured as low as 62.5 ms. For measuring voltage, the internal resistance is 12.5 MΩ for DC and 1 MΩ with approximately 33 pF for AC. The current measurement is 0.2 MΩ for the 1 A path and 3 MΩ for the 10 A path. Between the station and the E-bus, the terminal separates the electricity by 1,500 V.
The CE, EAC, and UKCA have approved the EL3681 analog input terminal, which gets 150 mA from the E-bus. The product has a 32-bit data bit width and a 16-bit control/status bit width that lets it work with automation controls. The terminal is 12 mm long, 100 mm wide, and 68 mm thick, and it weighs about 70 g.
Frequently Asked Questions about EL3681:
Q: Why does EL3681 have 1,500 V electrical isolation?
A: Electrical isolation protects the terminal and E-bus from voltage spikes. It ensures safe operation in high-voltage environments.
Q: Does EL3681 support true RMS measurement for AC signals?
A: Yes, terminal calculates true RMS values for AC voltage and current. This ensures accurate measurement of non-sinusoidal signals.
Q: How does EL3681 handle range switching during measurement?
A: Range switching takes 1 second to stabilize. This prevents inaccurate readings when changing voltage or current ranges.
Q: Why is a built-in fuse included in EL3681’s 1 A current path?
A: The fuse protects the terminal from overcurrent damage. It enhances device safety and reliability during high current measurement.
Q: Do EL3681’s internal resistances affect measurement accuracy?
A: Yes, the voltage input resistance is 12.5 MΩ (DC) to minimize loading. The current path resistance is low to reduce the voltage drop.
