The EL1094 is a Digital input terminal designed for EtherCAT-based control systems by Beckhoff. The company is known to manufacture components that are compatible with automation design and fieldbus technology. The terminal enables the use of four-channel ground-switching inputs. It works with logic that runs on 24 V DC and can connect straight to sensors.
The EL1094 digital input terminal operates on a 24 V DC power supply having tolerance from -15% to +20%. It has four digital sources that can be connected using two wires. Each channel has reasoning for switching the ground that works with most sensor setups. The incoming current is usually 3.0 mA per channel, which makes the device use less energy. The input filter lasts for 10 µs, which lets signals respond quickly. Different voltage values show different logic states. The input terminal has 500 V of electrical separation on the inside that keeps the E-bus and field potential separate. Power from the power ports usually takes 20 mA, and power from the E-bus takes about 90 mA. It does not need to be addressed or configured by hand, which makes system interaction easier. On the terminal, there are LED lights that show the state of each input channel. The case for the terminal is very small, measuring 12 mm across, and it fits on a 35 mm DIN rail.
The temperature range of 0°C to +55°C is the most common for cabinet settings, and this is where the EL1094 digital input terminal operates.
