The CX Embedded PC Systems series is a family of DIN-rail-mounted industrial controllers that combines PC-based control hardware with direct integration into Beckhoff I/O and EtherCAT system architectures.
Across the series, the platforms range from compact low-end controllers with onboard multifunction I/O and MicroSD storage to higher-performance modular systems with USB, dual Ethernet, video interfaces, serial options, fieldbus options, and support for add-on power-supply or UPS modules. The series is designed for control-cabinet installation and supports configuration and commissioning through TwinCAT, Beckhoff Device Manager, and model-dependent embedded operating systems such as Windows Embedded Compact, Windows Embedded Standard, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise, or TwinCAT/BSD-related environments. Several models also provide persistent-data functions such as NOVRAM or 1-second UPS support, while the hardware design includes diagnostic LEDs, replaceable storage media, and optional communication interfaces such as RS232, RS422/RS485, EtherCAT master or slave, CANopen, PROFIBUS, and PROFINET RT depending on the unit.
