Product Description:
Beckhoff’s CX2100-0014 power supply module belongs to the CX Embedded PC Systems series and is designed to feed control CPUs and fieldbus interfaces in distributed automation cabinets. The device converts a 24 V DC supply to regulated system voltages and distributes bus power, pairing with CX2000 CPUs to form a compact IPC node responsible for machine sequencing, data handling, and real-time I/O refresh in industrial plants.
Electrically, the module accepts a stabilized input of 24 V DC and can deliver up to 130 W to attached CX CPU slices and terminal strings. Its internal DC/DC converters allocate 10 W to the E-bus or K-bus rails while permitting an I/O supply of 2 A for sensor circuits via power contacts that withstand continuous 10 A loads. A dielectric strength of 500 V isolates the primary and secondary sections, protecting downstream electronics during fault conditions. When operating at full load the housing dissipates only 3.5 W of power loss, supporting fan-less cabinet layouts. Communication capacity equals 2048 bytes in and 2048 bytes out on the K-bus, and the E-bus can grow to 65,534 terminals without re-engineering the supply margin.
Mechanically the enclosure measures 60 mm in width, 91 mm in depth, and 100 mm in height, yet weighs only 550 g, allowing dense DIN-rail mounting beside other CX components. Spring-loaded push-in terminals simplify field wiring and ensure vibration-resistant connections. The front panel hosts an illuminated FSTN LCD with two lines of 16 characters that technicians use to view status and set node addresses without a laptop. An IP20 protection rating limits installation to clean control cabinets, but the power contacts still carry 10 A for actuators when routed through the same housing. With a connection budget of 10 W to the system bus and just 3.5 W of self-heating, the unit maintains thermal headroom even when 65,534 E-bus terminals are configured.
