The CX1100-0900 is a power supply and interface module in the Beckhoff CX Embedded PC Systems series. Beckhoff positions this module between the CPU and the I/O terminals, delivering the internal 24 V DC rails, distributing field supply, and forwarding bus signals. In industrial automation, it anchors the embedded PC to DIN-rail expansions, giving the controller a fixed point for both power and minimal local operator feedback via an onboard display and keypad. Its role is therefore essential when a CX CPU must drive EtherCAT or other remote I/O from a compact cabinet space.

Data exchange with the CPU occurs over the PC104 system bus, a parallel 32-bit interface that sustains deterministic cycle times for motion or process tasks. Internal registers have an access type of R/W, so user programs can both monitor status bits and write control commands. These registers occupy the control address window D1010-D101F (hex), providing sixteen consecutive bytes that map directly into the PLC image. The address block size is fixed at 0x10 bytes, so any burst transfer spans the whole register set. Operational messages appear on a backlit LCD that presents 2 × 16 characters, giving immediate local feedback without a separate display device.

The enclosure has a depth of 91 mm, a width of 57 mm, and a height of 100 mm, which helps it fit dense panel layouts. A membrane keypad with 4 + 1 keys is mounted beside the display, allowing on-site selection of menu pages, acknowledgment of faults, and entry of simple configuration values. The narrow form factor leaves more DIN-rail space for adjoining terminals and couplers. Basic local interaction remains available even when the embedded PC is installed in a crowded control cabinet, and status information can be checked without attaching separate local hardware.
