The CX5120-0150 is an embedded PC module produced by Beckhoff within the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Engineered for DIN rail mounting, this unit merges controller, visualization, and fieldbus gateway functions so that a single device can coordinate motion sequences, logic, and HMI displays in industrial automation cells. It attaches directly to Beckhoff I/O terminals, forming a scalable PLC platform for packaging machinery, material-handling stations, and building management installations without the footprint of a traditional industrial computer.
An internal clock rate of 1.46 GHz drives program execution, while the embedded Intel Atom E3815 architecture keeps thermal output low for fanless operation. The single-core processor simplifies task scheduling yet remains adequate for deterministic PLC cycles when paired with the board’s 2 GB DDR3 RAM. Maximum system demand stays within 11 W, allowing control cabinets to share low-capacity power supplies while easing heat dissipation. Nonvolatile storage is provided through a CFast slot and an additional microSD slot, offering removable media for system files and recipe updates. A one-second integrated uninterruptible power supply bridges brief brownouts so that data in volatile memory can be saved to flash storage.
