The Beckhoff CX1010-N060 is a module from the CX Embedded PC Systems series, designed to mount on the right side of the CPU module and connect between the CPU and power supply. It provides an additional Ethernet 10/100 Mbit interface through an RJ45 connection and includes a 3-port internal switch. The module features IP20 protection, supports up to 95% non-condensing humidity, and measures 100 mm in height, 51 mm in depth, and 19 mm in width.

Product Description:
The CX1010-N060 is a plug-in communication module produced by Beckhoff for the CX Embedded PC Systems series. Installed between the CPU and the power supply section, the unit provides a CX1010 controller with an additional Ethernet port, allowing field devices or higher-level networks to be segmented without external switches. In plant automation, it expands deterministic data exchange while keeping the embedded PC footprint compact. Automatic recognition during system startup allows the controller to access the extension without requiring a separate configuration process.
Communication with the processor is handled through the Enhanced PC104 Bus, which gives the processor access to the board at the same I/O timing used for native CX terminals. A single front-mounted RJ45 connector provides the cable interface, and packets are serviced by one 10/100 Mbit Ethernet controller that negotiates its connection speed with the peer device. The embedded three-port switch bridges traffic among the added port, the integrated CPU port, and the backplane channel, minimizing latency within the controller. The IP20 housing protects against contact with hazardous internal parts but requires installation in a closed cabinet that provides protection from dust and moisture. The additional network interface receives power through the system bus, so its electrical load must be included when sizing the main CX power supply.
The module has a depth of 51 mm, a height of 100 mm, and a width of 19 mm, keeping its narrow profile close to that of the main CPU. It mounts to the right of the CPU module, maintaining orderly signal routing through the backplane connectors. Patch cables connected to the auxiliary port should remain shorter than 15 m for internal cabinet wiring to maintain Category 5e performance. The design supports up to 95% noncondensing humidity, which prevents moisture accumulation from interfering with the electronic components during normal operation. Separate power cabling is unnecessary because the system bus supplies the module directly.
