It links sensors and actuators to higher-level networks in industrial automation.
Processing is handled by an Intel Atom E3845 quad-core processor running at 1.91 GHz; its four cores let the operating system separate real-time control from ancillary services. The unit has 4 GB of DDR3 RAM for code, variable space, and operating system overhead, while a shared graphics pool of 256 MB supports DVI-I output between 640 × 480 and 1920 × 1200 pixels for local HMI panels. Two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces terminated through two RJ45 sockets provide deterministic fieldbus or OPC UA links. Peripheral expansion is available through four USB 2.0 ports that each supply up to 500 mA.
